WomenRock weekend 16-17 August 2025
Back for 2025, WomenRock is a fun, practical and supportive weekend of all things outdoor climbing, on beautiful Peak District gritstone.
If you’re new to outdoor climbing, want a better understanding of movement and technique on rock, learn essential skills for trad climbing, or want to learn techniques on how to improve your mental game, come join us!
Holly and the supporting instructors are all fully qualified, and Holly also has training in Mental Health First Aid.
Topics we’ll cover during the weekend:
Intro to gritstone and climbing ethics
Movement and technique on boulders
Spotting when bouldering - when, why, how
Tying in, belaying and lead belaying best practice
Gritstone-specific techniques eg crack climbing
Building anchors for belaying at the top or bottom
Bottom-rope climbing (lots of this!)
Understanding gear placement
Placing gear on lead (with safety rope)
Mindfulness in climbing
Managing fear
You must have your own climbing shoes, and be able to tie in and belay. I have a limited number of harnesses and helmets for loan; if you have your own, please bring them!
£155 (climbing-only ticket, does NOT include accommodation - see below)
Accommodation is NOT included in this ticket type; tickets including accommodation have sold out. You’ll need to book your own accommodation (camping, AirBnB etc).
Travel can be arranged from Hathersage train station if required. We will be meeting on Saturday morning around 9.30am at the crag car park.
Tickets are limited - first come first served
